Privacy Policy

Last updated: 15 October 2026

This page explains, in plain English, what information is collected when you visit Tech Ramblings of a 50 Something (https://techramblings50.blogspot.com), who collects it, and what choices you have. The author of Tech Ramblings does not sell or share your personal information with anyone.

Who hosts this blog

This blog runs on Blogger, a service owned and operated by Google. That means Google hosts the site and processes some technical data (such as your IP address, browser type and the pages you view) to deliver it to you and keep it secure. You can read how Google handles this in the Google Privacy Policy.

Cookies

Cookies are small text files that a website stores on your device. Blogger uses some cookies to make the site work and to count visits. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings at any time, although some features may not work as well if you do.

Advertising (Google AdSense)

This blog may show adverts served by Google AdSense. In connection with that:

Where the law requires it, visitors in the UK and European Economic Area will be asked for consent before personalised ads or non-essential cookies are used, through Google's consent message.

Third-party vendors

Besides Google, other advertising vendors or ad networks approved by Google may serve ads on this site and may use cookies, web beacons or similar technologies. The author of Tech Ramblings does not control these cookies, and their use is covered by each vendor's own privacy policy.

Comments

If you leave a comment, it is handled by Blogger. Your comment, the name you choose to display and (if you sign in) your Google profile name and link will be visible publicly. Please don't include personal details you wouldn't want others to see. Comments may be moderated, and the author of Tech Ramblings may remove any comment that is spam, abusive or off-topic. If you'd like a comment of yours removed, just ask via the Contact form.

Embedded YouTube videos

Some posts include embedded YouTube videos. YouTube is owned by Google, and when you play an embedded video, YouTube may set cookies and collect information about your viewing, in the same way as if you visited YouTube directly. This is covered by the Google Privacy Policy.

Analytics and stats

Blogger provides basic built-in statistics, such as page views, referring sites and approximate location by country. These are anonymous totals and do not identify you personally. If any other analytics tool (such as Google Analytics) is added in future, this policy will be updated to say so.

Contact form

The Contact form on this blog is a Google Form. If you use it, your name (if you give it), email address and message are sent through Google Forms and stored in the blog's Google account (in Google Forms and Google Sheets). They are used only to read and reply to your message, are not added to any mailing list and are not shared with anyone else. Messages are deleted once they are no longer needed. Google processes this data under the Google Privacy Policy.

Your rights under UK GDPR

If you are in the UK, the UK General Data Protection Regulation gives you rights over your personal data, including the right to access it, correct it, have it deleted, restrict or object to its use, and withdraw consent at any time. Most data on this blog is processed by Google, so requests about cookies, ads or your Google account are best made through Google's own tools. For anything held by the author of Tech Ramblings (such as messages sent through the Contact form, or comments), get in touch via the Contact form. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).

Children

This blog is written for a general adult audience and is not aimed at children under 13. The author of Tech Ramblings does not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has submitted personal information, please get in touch and it will be removed.

Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated from time to time, for example if new features or services are added. Any changes will be posted on this page with a new "Last updated" date.
